With the coming into force of the Lisbon Treaty and the new soft competence on sport, the European Commission will spend much of 2010 laying the foundations for its future work.

As part of this, the European Commission has recently launched an online consultation, allowing "citizens with an interest in sport" to input via a questionnaire. Although the questionnaire has been critiqued as being couched in negetive terminology towards sport, it does offer a real possibility to influence EU policy.
